Ben F. Stahl is a resident of Prince Edward Island, having moved here after being commissioned by Bantam Books to develop 36 historical paintings for all of the covers of the novels and short stories by Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of the ever-popular Anne of Green Gables.. He was born in Chicago and has lived on both coasts of the U.S., Canada and Europe.
He has taught drawing and painting at Bridgeport, Connecticut and the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. His art has been commissioned by most major publishers.
His work has won awards in several New York Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibits and has won American Institute Graphic awards. He is a member of the New York Society of illustrators and included in Who's Who in American Art, as well as The Illustrator in America
He has been sought after for his accuracy and sensitivity in portraying historical subjects.
He has had solo exhibitions in Europe, New York, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
