Colin Page grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. He transferred to Cooper Union with a concentration on painting.
"Painting is making the everyday scenes into the poetic. My paintings are all created from life with an emphasis on capturing light and atmosphere of a scene through use of color and a painterly application. Creating art is a quiet reflective time, which cultivates an intimacy with the subject. This intimacy is what makes each painting unique. Through painting a place I find moments of beauty in the space around me. The story I tell as a painter is one of how that particular scene captures me - how I see beauty in it. At the same time the painting should look as though it breathes and has a life of it's own. With respect to both the technical and spiritual aspect of art I am guided by the words and paintings of Rembrandt van Rijn, Claude Monet, Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse, Don Kunz, Richard Diebenkorn and Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, among others."....
