Toller Cranston was born in Ontario in 1949 and grew up in Kirkland Lake. A true Renaissance man he was a three time world figure skating champion, Canadian athlete of the year, member of the Order of Canada, internationally recognized artist, illustrator, curator, writer, sports commentator and choreographer. Widely acclaimed as the most influential skater in the 20th century. His skating revolutionized men's figure skating. His artistry and freedom of movement brought figure skating to an all new height.
His paintings have been and continue to be exhibited throughout the world.
Toller passed away at his home in San Miguel de Allende in January, 2015.
